hi all,
i have recently purchased a 2005 525d and cannot get the bluetooth to work in the car. i have an iphone but no cradle for the centre console. Going through the idrive you get to the bluetooth connectivety menu but i cannot tick the box to enable it. there is obviously a problem and i wanted to know if anyone else heard of this. I contacted my local dealer who said that it would have to be put on their computer to diagnose the fault. they also reminded me that depending the fault they charged £100 per hour labour, nice. A friend told me to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes and see if it reset
anything, alas no joy. Just wanted to know if anyone knew of a quick fix..???

Good photos. However, mattijzz is correct. The phone can connect externally. And the new iPhone 4 is a good candidate for this. However, I'd just stick avoiding the Bluetooth and just use the speaker in the iPhone; it's pretty good.

Hi nice pics. I think it does NOT connect to the external antenna since the Iphone does not have a connection for that. It says on the BMW website that there can only be a connection to the airial when the phone does have a conenction to do so. The iphone does not have this. I see this everywhere on the internet but the info is wrong.

I have a Uk 2008 x3 with Bluetooth.
My dealer wants over £155 for the cradle, says I need an additional bracket and 15 mins of labour to widen the housing in the armrest - anyone know if this is right??

Where can the arm that the cradle and adapter be purchased? Does it have a part number/name?

Just as a footnote to the above.....& it may be of help to other people...
I have had a Bluetooth retro fit kit fitted to my 04 X3....& it works great......I have connected the wires from the unused cig lighter to the eject box/snap in adapter (iphone) & it would seem that the the eject box takes care of the voltage so my iphone is charging nicely

Hi I am having a bluetooth retro fit kit fitted to my BMW 04 X3...it is UK model so it is not pre-wired......I want to use a snap in adapter but obviously there is no connectors under the centre console.... My question is .... is there a voltage transformer in the snap in adapter or will the voltage have to be regulated somewhere along the power cable ie from the wires from the unused Gigarette lighter
Many thanks for any replies
