NVIDIA: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered [maybe a FIX]

Several times in the last week my dual monitor setup (BENQ GW2765HT and DELL U2414H) has blacked out, flickered and then either failed to come back or left me with only one display working.

This is normally coupled with a popup error message in the system tray:

Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 331.82 stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

I’m not sure why it says it has “successfully recovered” because I am unable to launch NVIDIA control panel until I’ve restarted the computer.

My display adapter is an NVIDIA NVS 310, computer is a DELL Precision T5610 running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Continue reading “NVIDIA: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered [maybe a FIX]”

Force eject CD/DVD stuck in Apple computer

If you’ve got a CD or DVD that simply refuses to eject from your Apple computer, whether it’s an iMac, MacPro or Macbook there’s a simple solution.

To eject a stuck disc:
Press and hold your mouse or trackpad button during bootup

  1. Power down the device completely
  2. Press and hold your mouse button/trackpad button and keep it held down
  3. Press the power button to turn it back on while keeping mouse button down
  4. Keep holding the mouse/trackpad button and eventually the CD or DVD should eject itself and then the computer will continue to boot as normal.

NOTE: I’m not sure if this technique still works with wireless (Bluetooth) pointing devices such as the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad but I will endeavour to test this later and update this post.

https Certificate Errors Caused by Wrong Date on Macbook Air

My MacBook Air keeps losing date and time when the main battery is completely depleted. Once it’s charged back up the date and time are wrong which leads to strange behaviour with emails, web pages, apps etc

I noticed I couldn’t go to any https secure page with an error of ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID which is caused by the date of the machine differening from the ssl certifcate server.

FIX: Setting date and time back to correct values instantly fixes this.
